Hi, I’m Sofia, a watercolour artist and tutor based in the Stourbridge, UK. I create and teach loose, expressive watercolour inspired by nature.

I began painting during a busy time in my life, when I needed something calm and creative just for me. Watercolour helped me slow down, reconnect with myself and notice the beauty in everyday moments. Over time, I found myself wanting to share that feeling with others.

I find inspiration in Cornish beaches and coastal paths, countryside walks, wildflowers and changing skies. Whatever I’m painting, I’m drawn to light and atmosphere. I love flowing washes, watching colours mixing on the paper and exploring hard, soft and lost edges. Simplifying what I see leaves room for watercolour to do what it does best.

Through the online Watercolour Clubhouse and my in-person classes, I help beginners understand watercolour with calm, step-by-step guidance. Together, we explore wet-on-wet techniques, water and paint consistency, colour mixing, light and shadow. These skills help you build the confidence to explore your own subjects and ideas.

I want my classes to feel warm and welcoming, with space to ask questions, experiment and enjoy the process. Helping someone begin to believe in their own ability is one of the things I love most about teaching. Every painting is practice, not a test.

I’m still learning too, always looking for different ways to explore watercolour and strengthen my drawing skills. That’s what I find so interesting and fun about painting. There’s always something new to discover, and the learning never stops.
